The core purpose of this role is to conduct environmental processes in terms of relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for/should possess the following:
Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and other environmental investigations according to the new EIA legislation.
Interpret and apply environmental legislation with guidance of line managers.
Develop, plan and co-ordinate Public Participation Processes (PPP).
Client and authority liaison.
Compile project proposals and environmental reports.
Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMP's).
Conduct environmental monitoring, reviews and audits.
Provide on-going assistance and support to line managers and rest of the environmental team.
Degree in Environmental Sciences / Environmental Management
Minimum 5 years’ experience in EIAs, EMPs, PPPs and auditing.
Proven experience acting as an Environmental Impact Assessment Practitioner.
Data collection, research and report writing.
Site investigations for environmental projects
MS Office - Word, Excel, Projects and Power Point.
Conduct site investigations.
Conduct and coordinate a public participation process to avoid/minimise reputation risk and damage to GIBB and client.
Good report writing and review as well as presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Co-ordinate all of the above activities and determine priorities in consultation with line managers.
Securing relevant information and identifying key issues and relationships from a base of information; relating and comparing data from different sources; identifying cause-effect relationships.
Committing to an action after developing alternative courses of action that are based on logical assumptions and factual information and that takes into consideration resources, constraints, and organisational values.
